A Northampton question master has scored a line up of celebrity sports stars for a live online charity quiz for the NHS this Friday.

Simon Chapman is using his skills as a regular question master for pubs and charities to hold the 'Not Just a Question of Sport' live stream this week.

His star-studded line up of panelists includes two-times Ashes winner Monty Panesar, Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow and Cobblers legend Marco Gabbiadini.

Northampton Saints stars Alex Waller and Paul Hill, Steelbacks players Ben Sanderson and Josh Cobb and club coaches David Ripley and Rob Newton are also booked to compete.

Simon will be hosting the show on his Quiz Master YouTube channel - where, for the past eight weeks, he has also been using his skills to throw daily quizzes for schoolchildren across the UK.

Viewers can also play along at home, on the night.

Simon, who is also a University of Northampton staff member, said: I have no celebrity links personally, so when I came up with the idea, I knew it could be a challenge. To start with, I asked friends to see if they had any contacts, and with Northampton being a relatively close-knit community, many people came up trumps.”

“I also tweeted many people on Twitter and Monty Panesar responded straight away and was really keen to take part to raise funds for the NHS. It was amazing to have someone of his gravitas to support the event.”

The quiz will be held on Zoom and will feature six rounds of eight questions on general knowledge.

The evening will also be a chance for Simon to ask the celebrities questions about their careers and how they are handling the lockdown.

Simon has also launched a crowdfunding page to support the quiz, with all money raised going to NHS Charities Together.

He said: "NHS staff have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, including my sister, who is a nurse. This is a chance to give something back to them."
