Northampton developer feeds 150 NHS workers with charity donation

A Northampton-based housing developer has helped feed 150 NHS frontline workers in the middle of their 12-hour shifts.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands, whose head office is in Northampton, donated £1,000 to Meals for the NHS to aid their mission to give decent and wholesome meals to staff across UK hospitals.

All donations given to the charity go directly to funding the meals and this donation is being used to provide a total of 150 meals at times when NHS workers need them the most.

This donation comes as part of the developer’s Community Fund scheme, which sees it donate up to £1,000 to a charity or organisation each month.

Meals for the NHS pledged to deliver to hospitals outside of normal working hours after discovering hospital canteens close at 5pm, vending machines are turned off for health and safety reasons and PPE restricts staff from quickly popping out to get food in breaks due to how long it takes to undress and re-gown.

During the outbreak, they have raised over £1.7m, delivered over 200,000 meals to 61 cities across the country and given a crucial lifeline to over 213 small and independent restaurants who otherwise might have closed.
