An inclusive dance school that has had to adapt to an online world since lockdown began is now planning a huge virtual party.

Born to Perform, which specialises in dance sessions for disabled adults and children, is hoping the party this weekend will give their dancers a ‘chance to let their hair down’.

Kimberley Carey, one of the founders of the dance school, said: “We have been working with Brookside Day Centre, a local day service provider based on the Market Square to offer 'Rockdown in Lockdown', an online house party for adults with disabilities to look forward to and let their hair down.

“There will be music, dancing, party games and karaoke along with shout outs to various supported living homes who have got involved.”

The event, which will start at 7pm on Friday (May 1), is open to anyone in Northampton who is over the age of 18 who has a learning disability.

Kimberley added: “Every party-goer will also receive a free 'party pack' delivered to them with glow sticks, sweets and body glitter to get them in the party spirit courtesy of Brookside Day Centre and Born to Perform.

“And we have a private group where we have been taking song requests and giving dance and glitter tutorials, everyone is so excited.”

The team already has more than 60 people signed up for the party, but more people are welcome.
