Northampton charity for people in need welcomes £5,000 donation from Amazon fulfilment centre in Daventry

A Northampton charity that provides support for the homeless and those experiencing difficult times has received a donation of £5,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Daventry

Mayday Trust, based at Moulton Park Business Centre, has benefited from Amazon UK's special coronavirus initiative to support the communities around its bases.

The charity offers people going through tough times the opportunity to focus on their strengths and abilities and supports them to explore their passions.

By doing so, people are more likely to live well within their communities, get through their tough times and live a life that works for them.

Amazon Daventry site leader Gareth Davies said: “We’re proud to support organisations that are making a real difference in our community like Mayday Trust.

"Its staff and volunteers have been a great support to people in Northampton during COVID-19 and we want to lend a helping hand with this donation.”

Trevor White, who works at Amazon's base in Coventry, nominated Mayday Trust for the donation.

“Mayday Trust is a charity close to my heart and I am pleased that it has been chosen to receive this donation from Amazon," he said.

"I hope the donation gives the people a boost during what continues to be a challenging year.”

Mayday Trust director of development Lynn Mumford said: “Covid-19 has highlighted how important it is to listen to the people we work with to make sure we respond in the right way for each individual.

"Amazon’s support is hugely appreciated and will allow us to continue to offer much needed personalised support for people within our community.
