Once placed in the car, the tech takes 27 minutes to perform one cycle, killing any bacteria on the surface of the seats, carpets, dashboard, steering wheel.

Brian Lennon, business development director for Castle Coachworks: “Unfortunately, as the weeks progress it is becoming increasingly clear that living with the virus is and will be our new way of life for the immediate future, so we need to get used to it.

“We reopened our doors on Monday 11, working with fifty percent of our workforce, implementing the Government’s guidelines regarding PPE and social distancing.

“Investing in this new technology is a real game changer, as not only can we help ensure the ongoing safety of our technicians, but prevent any further spread when we return the vehicle to its owner.

“The only other alternative to ensure vehicles are Covid-19 free would be to leave the vehicle standing for up to nine days, which is not practical for insurers or body shops, so this will certainly help us get back to business.”

The business believes it is the first in the country to use technology such as this.
