Northampton books more escorts than nearly anywhere else in the UK, new study claims

Northampton has ranked third in a national table of towns and cities where Brits are most likely to seek out sex with escorts.

The research, commissioned by escort-advertising agency SexScort, based the rankings on which places in the UK have used their services the most to book in for a behind-closed-doors sessions in 2020.

And Northampton - which is only the 24th largest town in the UK - ranked in third place overall, 'losing out' only to Birmingham and London.

The agency said Northampton's place in the polls was a "shock" inclusion with 346 illicit encounters, behind London's 3,337 and Birmingham's 367.

Chief executive of SexScort, Frank Dethridge, said: “We were amazed that Northampton, which is the 24th largest town in the UK and has a population of nearly 230,000, came in third place. It just goes to show you can never predict sexual appetite.

“We’re working hard to break down the taboos commonly associated with the sex industry. By having these open and transparent conversations about sex services we can help improve working conditions, ensuring staff and customers are as safe as they can be.”

The East Midlands town - the setting for the Kinky Boots film and musical - was ranked above the likes of Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and Nottingham in the list, while Glasgow was the only Scottish city to feature in the top 10.
