A young girl who wanted to help frontline NHS staff has raised more than £200 by completing a hula hoop challenge.

Sienna Ginder decided to raise money for the Northamptonshire Health Charity as her auntie works on a dedicated Covid-19 ward at Northampton General Hospital.

The nine-year-old from Duston based her challenge around the 12-hour shifts that NHS workers complete, so today (May 12) at 12pm she completed 12 minutes of continuous hula hooping with a 1.5kg weighted hoop.

Sienna’s mum, Rebecca, said: “Sienna wanted to help out during these times so she was thinking of ideas of how to raise some money.

“I’d just bought a new weighted hoop that was supposed to be for me, but I can’t do it so we came up with this idea, just over a week ago.

“She did it for 12 minutes because NHS staff work for 12 hours, so it worked that we did it on May 12 at 12pm too.

“Sienna did the 12 minutes without stopping and she’s really proud of herself.”

The challenge has already raised more than £200 for the local health charity.

Sienna’s JustGiving page is still live and donations are still being accepted.
