A search is on to find the owner of a full suitcase found standing upright on a road in a Northampton neighbourhood this morning.

The grey-blue wheeled suitcase was found waiting in Hood Street, the Mounts, by a runner at around 8am today (January 28).

A picture shared to the Colwyn Road & Neighbours Residents' Association Facebook page showed the luggage exactly as it was found - standing upright on the side of the road with no nearby cars.

The runner who found it shared it to the group page after taking it inside her house out of concern it could belong to one of her neighbours.

She told the Chronicle & Echo: "I was concerned it might have been flytipped but now I think it might belong to one of my neighbours.

"I took it inside to get it out the street and had a look inside to see if there was anything that could help me find its owner. It's filled with lady's clothing.

"To be honest I'm just glad there wasn't a body or anything else like that inside."

Now, the search is on to reunite the suitcase with its owner.

A tag on the luggage's handle says it flew into Birmingham Airport last night (January 27) on Air India flight 147539.

Anyone who knows who the suitcase may belong to can contact the Chronicle & Echo on 01604 467038.
