Moulton Leisure Centre opening delayed as new Tier Four restrictions put in place

The opening of the new Moulton Leisure Centre has been delayed due to the tightening of COVID-19 restrictions.

Moulton Leisure Centre, run by sport and leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Daventry District Council, was due to open on Saturday, January 2, however, this will now take place at a later date.

Set to undergo a phased opening, the £8.5million centre will offer a diverse range of facilities, including a six-lane, 25m swimming pool with moveable floor, two therapy pools

and a changing area specifically for baby and pre-school swimming.

It will be the first health spa in the area comprising of a steam room, sauna and spa pool among the attractions while a 60-station fitness suite, multi-activity studio, spin studio and extended car park are also included.

Daventry District Council bought the former Chris Moody Centre from Moulton College back in March, with funding from housing developer contributions.

The council will manage the state-of-the-art Moulton Leisure Centre after agreeing a five-year contract.

Simon Fearn, area manager for Everyone Active, said: “We’re saddened by the news and will let the local community know as soon as we are ready to open.

“We look forward to welcoming the public to Moulton Leisure Centre in the near future.”

Daventry Leisure Centre will close from tomorrow until further notice, under the new Tier Four restrictions.
