A Northampton woman who represents a beauty company organised a huge donation of hand cream with the help of her local community.

Jade Groves, who is the area manager for Body Shop at Home, decided she wanted to do something to help her frontline workers at Northampton General Hospital.

The 28-year-old from Duston asked on her Facebook page, followed by people who buy Body Shop products, whether they would sponsor hand cream to donate, and the response was amazing.

Jade said: “We got more than 100 bottles so I popped them in a bag and took them down to the hospital.

“We just thought everybody is washing their hands more and nurses more than anyone will need to hand cream with all the antibacterial and disinfectant.

“We thought it would be a nice treat for them to have a decent hand cream.

“I think there were about ten different types of hand creams, so they could help themselves.”

Although Jade was responsible for organising the Northampton aspect of the hand cream donations, she does not want to take all the credit as Body Shop consultants around the country are also organising donations for their local hospital.

In the region that Jade manages, more than 3,000 bottles of hand cream have already been donated to frontline workers, which has left the products out of stock.

Jade added: “I think it’s really important for people to help out in this way. It just keeps morale up a little bit. It’s quite easy to get and not feel yourself.

“I’ve seen a lot of it in the community of people doing really nice things for others. It really makes the difference.”

Of course Jade could not give the items to NGH workers personally, but she did receive an email to say how grateful the staff were for the donation.
