A man was threatened with a knife before being attacked with a wrench-type tool in Wellingborough.

The aggravated burglary took place at a house in Dalkeith Road in the town on Monday (March 23).

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "Between 10.30pm and 10.50pm on Monday, March 23, four males entered the address while a fifth person guarded the front door, and assaulted one of the people inside.

"During the incident, one of the offenders threatened the man with a knife, and a second one hit him in the side of the head with a wrench-type tool, before stealing a wallet and purse."

The spokesman said two of the offenders were white and two were of dual-heritage.

They all wore dark clothing and facial coverings.
