Man charged with crashing victim's car after stealing keys from Northampton McDonald's and driving away in it

A man has been charged with walking into a Northampton McDonald's restaurant, stealing a set of car keys and driving away in the victim's Corsa before crashing it on a nearby street.

Adam Tiwary, of no fixed abode, has been charged with theft and aggravated vehicle taking for the incident on June 23.

At Northampton Magistrate's Court yesterday (August 27), the 38-year-old was also charged with failing to stop after damaging after allegedly hitting another car less than a mile away on Fullingdale Road.

He was also charged with being disqualified at the time.

In the same hearing, Tiwary was charged with stealing clothes from a flat in Broadmead Court, laptops from the Old Bank pub on St Giles Square and a wallet from a building on Abington Street.

He was remanded into custody and will appear at Northampton Crown Court on September 30.
