Hundreds of residents at a Northampton holiday park have been without power since yesterday afternoon.

A blackout hit Billing Aquadrome off Crow Lane at around 5.30pm yesterday and has affected dozens of static caravans.

Residents have contacted the Chronicle & Echo today to say they are completely without power and some have no hot water.

And, nearly 24 hours on, many people are concerned the food in their fridges and freezers will spoil, while others are unable to contact loved ones as they are unable to charge their phones.

It is believed that although Western Power supplies the park, the fault has affected Billing Aquadrome's own equipment.

A representative from Pure Leisure - the company which runs the park - said in a statement: "There was an interruption to the supply of power into Billing Aquadrome Holiday Park at 5.30pm yesterday (August 19).

"We are continuing to work with Western Power and our retained electrical contractors to locate and resolve the issue, and have worked around the clock.

"We will update as we progress with the work, and will continue to update our owners and holidaymakers via our receptions and social media, and would like to take the opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused, and thank everyone for their patience and understanding."

Updates to follow.
