Major plans submitted to build extension in rural area of village in Northamptonshire
Agricultural land which surrounds a Northamptonshire village could be developed to include up to 41 new homes.
Plans have been revealed to build new homes on land off West Haddon Road in the village of Crick.
The land is a single piece of agricultural land covering about 2.51 hectares, equivalent to the size of six football pitches, with its northern edge situated along West Haddon Road and the A428.
The applicant, Clarendon Land & Development II Ltd, said in planning papers: “The proposals will provide residential development of up to 41 new homes to meet local need that relates well to the existing village.

“Public open space for existing and future residents, including play provision and recreational routes.”
Of the 41 homes, 20 would be sold on the open market and 21 would be affordable homes. The affordable homes would be split between 67 per cent for affordable rent and 33 per cent for shared ownership.
Overall, 51.2 per cent of the homes would be classed as affordable, which is higher than the usual policy requirement, according to the plans.
The applicant said: “Given the significant wider affordable housing need and the recognised local market and affordable housing need, the proposed development brings clear social benefits and should be given very substantial weight. This is particularly the case given the significant need and recent failures to deliver affordable homes within the West Northamptonshire area.”
A public consultation was carried out from 23 January to 6 February 2026.
Crick Parish Council has been contacted for comment.
