A popular pub in Northampton has reopened following a whopping £424,000 refurbishment.

The Sunnyside pub reopened on April 1 with a new look, including what operator Marston’s calls a “Two Door Pub” concept. This separates the site into a sports bar showing Sky and TNT Sports, and a family lounge area.

Inside, the updated bar includes large HD screens for live sport, along with a darts area and pool table.

The pub remains dog-friendly and continues to serve its regular food menu, including dishes such as The Ultimate Southern Fried Chicken Burger.

The Sunnyside will also host a variety of events, with details available on its website.

General manager Matt Skolfield said: ‘’We’re so excited to reopen the doors of Sunnyside and welcome our wonderful guests back to see the results of our refurbishment. With brand-new TVs and even more sports channels, we can’t wait for everyone to join us and enjoy this summer’s biggest sporting moments together. We’ve invested significantly to breathe new life into the pub, and we’re looking forward to creating even more great memories with our loyal customers.”

To mark the reopening, local Armed Forces veteran Dean Griffin – also known as The Travelling Veteran – was invited to pull the first pint. He supports two charities, Veterans Community Network and The Veterans Charity, which the pub will back over the coming year.

Veterans Community Network supports veterans and their families across Northamptonshire and surrounding counties, helping them access services to improve their wellbeing and transition to civilian life. The Veterans Charity operates nationally, helping former members of the British Armed Forces who are experiencing hardship or crisis.

Marston’s runs more than 1,300 pubs and bars across England, Scotland and Wales.
