A Kingsthorpe couple who once upon a time used to cycle 10 miles just to see each other are celebrating 60 years together.

Graham and Gill Morton met at a dance in 1960 and were married in Rothersthorpe Church by March the following year.

Now, the Northampton couple are toasting their Diamond wedding anniversary with the help of their friends and family.

After meeting at a dance in 1960, the young lovebirds used to take turns cycling from Pitsford to Rothersthorpe and back just to see each other.

While Graham worked as a farm labourer in Pitsford for 25 years and later an HGV driver, Gill took a job at Middlesex House Hospital and later retrained for a role at Anglian Water and later the Hospitals Guild.

Together they had three children and today have four grandchildren, two great-grandsons and a granddaughter on the way.

They have made a home in Kingsthorpe for the past 41 years.
