IN PICTURES: Join in on Northampton's Rainbow Trail to brighten up our neighbourhoods during the lockdown

Northampton has made a great effort to make our streets more fun to walk along every day

Homes and front windows across the country have been decorated with rainbows and warm wishes for anyone who walks past - and Northampton has also made a great effort.

Rainbow Trails have become a national sensation where houses and windows are decorated with homemade rainbows for passersby to enjoy on their daily walk.

And in Northampton, the town's families and children have gone to extra special lengths to make their neighbours bright and exciting for everyone to enjoy.

Below are just a handful of pictures from the Northampton Rainbow Trail Facebook page to give you some inspiration.

The page, founded by Claire Harris, shares pictures of everyone's efforts to brighten up their neighbourhoods, and even offers a week-to-week timetable of new themes to try.

Claire said: "The Rainbow Trail is something that happening internationally and I wanted somewhere for Northampton to show their efforts.

"It's people - not just children - making rainbows to put in their windows and give everyone something to look for and enjoy on their daily walk.

"I think it's just something to help people reach out to one another and say because we're all in this together.

"I hope it carries on even after the lockdown ends."
