IN PICTURES: Fireworks, flames and Halloween fun at Northampton's spectacular Racecourse event

Northampton's night sky was lit up by a dazzling display of colour as the town's popular Fireworks Spectacular returned to the Racecourse.

The free event, organised by Northampton Town Council, took place on Sunday, November 1, with an evening of Halloween-themed entertainment, live music, fire performances and a spectacular fireworks finale.

Families gathered at the Racecourse for the annual celebration, which began at 4pm with entertainment hosted by BBC Radio Northampton presenter Justin Dealey.

This year's event featured a spooky historical twist, with local theatre company The Mystery Tours bringing Northampton's witch trials to life.

Their production, Northampton's Five – A Journey into the Witch Trials of 1612 and 1705, explored a fascinating and darker chapter of the town's history through performances on stage and screen.

Live music was provided by the Soul Harmony Divas, fronted by female vocalists Hannah Faulkner and Jenny K, who entertained the crowds with a selection of Soul, Motown, Disco and Dance favourites, accompanied by a live band.

The Halloween theme continued with a dramatic fire and pyrotechnic performance from The Live Performers, featuring flames and special effects.

The evening culminated in a spectacular pyromusical fireworks display at 6pm, with colourful explosions lighting up the sky above the Racecourse in time to music.

Visitors were also able to enjoy funfair rides, food and drink stalls, face painting and a Help for Heroes stall.

Ahead of the event, Councillor Keith Holland-Delamere, chair of Northampton Town Council's community services committee, described the celebration as one of the highlights of the town's events calendar.

He said: "We're excited to be bringing a piece of Northampton's history to life with The Mystery Tours and their production exploring our town's heritage."

The event was supported by sponsors Maintenance Services Electrical Ltd and Everyone Active, with Northampton Street Pastors also providing support.

The Chronicle & Echo's photographer Kirsty Edmonds was there to capture the colourful fireworks, dramatic fire performances and families enjoying the evening.
