The Firefighter Challenge took place at the University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus on Saturday, September 12, as part of the British Firefighter Challenge series.
Hosted by Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service in partnership with Fire Sport UK, the event saw operational firefighters compete in a series of physical challenges based on situations they could face while responding to real emergencies.
Competitors were tested on their speed, strength and endurance throughout the day, with individual contests running from the morning into the afternoon.
Spectators were able to watch the action for free, while fire engines and crews were also on site.
Visitors had the chance to meet local firefighters, learn more about their work and pick up fire safety advice during the event in Northampton.
