Jim, who is giving back to the hospital which has helped him throughout his life, today reacted to the news that his Just Giving page has topped £400.

He said: "At my time of life it should be pipe and carpet slippers not this high level prominence but I'm very grateful if it gets the right result.

"I did not expect such a favourable response or beneficial reaction. I'm extremely thankful and I thank everyone for their concern and showing an interest.

"It would be all worthwhile to raise £1,000 and I think my wife would have been proud, bless her. I think Colonel Tom started off with a £1,000 in mind and it went crazy.

"After a short walk I tire out but when I tap dance it's like I am supercharged with energy." To donate to Jim's fundraising page, click here.
