The experts behind Trapp'd escape rooms have launched a new 30-minute experience but this time props in the room are not just for show - they can be smashed to smithereens.

Destroy'd opened today (Wednesday) at Trapp'd's Billing Aquadrome-based site, where they already host three of their existing escape rooms.

It is the third 'rage room' of its kind launched by the company, with others in Stockport and Corby.

A ‘rage room’ is a safe room where people put on protective clothing, enter the room and destroy, smash and obliterate all the objects within it, such as printers, computers, TVs and glass bottles.

The experience is for two players to take part in, one at a time, and take out their frustrations while recording each other and listening to their own soundtrack.

Weapons of choice include a mini sledgehammer, a golf club or a bat.

Once you arrive at Trapp'd, staff will go through the safety procedures and ask those taking part to put on protective masks, headgear, a boiler suit and gloves before a legal waiver must be signed.

Pairs are then taken into the £45 per session room where they will be given a basket of small items, two medium items and two large items to take a swing at.

Director of Trapp'd, David Laird, said: "People love it, it's so fun and it's fun to watch people as well.

"These rooms are really big in America at the minute, that's where we got the idea from, on a trip to New York. We had seen all the sites and thought we wanted to do something different.

"We found rooms like these and thought Northampton needs them!

"I felt amazing afterwards but exhausted. It's like a full on workout, crammed within a short space of time."
