Harry’s Pals welcomed 35 families from across England to the event in Preston Capes on Saturday, July 4, hosted by the Arblaster family.
For many, the day offered a welcome break from hospital appointments, treatment and the challenges of daily life, allowing families to spend quality time together.
The highlight of the event was the opportunity for children, including those living with serious conditions and their siblings, to enjoy helicopter and plane flights thanks to the generosity of aircraft owners.
Families also took part in a range of activities including creative workshops, face painting, magic shows and Disney character appearances, while food and refreshments helped create a festival atmosphere.
Harry’s Pals chief executive Hayley Charlesworth said: “When your child has a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, opportunities to simply enjoy time together as a family can be incredibly rare.
“This event allowed families to put worries aside for a few hours and create memories that will last a lifetime. It was wonderful to see families taking time out to connect, be together and have fun. We’re so grateful to everyone who made it possible.”
One family whose daughter Scarlett attended said: “Saturday was a special day making memories for our family. To see Scarlett’s face light up with excitement is something I truly treasure.
“From helicopters to plane rides to old fire engines, Scarlett was in her element. We could not be more grateful for this experience. We will remember this day forever.”
The charity thanked the Arblaster family, volunteers, sponsors and long-standing supporter CL Medilaw for helping make the free event possible.
Harry’s Pals supports parents across England whose child has a life-limiting or life-threatening condition through emotional support, counselling and opportunities to create precious family memories.
