Gym owner from Rushden to take on World Record chin-up challenge in a bid to raise £100K for Saints Foundation

A Northamptonshire gym owner and former Royal Marine has set himself a challenge to beat the World Record for most chin-ups in 24 hours.

Jack Fleckney from Rushden, has previously taken on other physical World Records, but his latest is his toughest yet.

The event, set for June 12 to 13, will see Jack put months of training to work as he aims to complete over 5,500 chin-ups in 24 hours.

As part of the challenge the 29-year-old has set himself a massive target of raising £100,000 for the Saints Foundation.

The money raised would help to provide increased classroom space at Franklin’s Gardens, enabling the foundation to accommodate and support more vulnerable young people from across Northamptonshire on their Engage programme.

The Engage programme works with students aged between 10 and 16 who are struggling in, or are excluded from, mainstream education.

It is an advanced inclusion programme offering on-site learning, and on and off-site activities to improve health, welfare, wellbeing and relationship building.

Jack said: “I have been lucky that my journey to this point has given me so much experience.

“From facing learning and speech difficulties at school, my life has largely been built around challenges, facing them with everything I have got.”

In the lead up to Jack’s challenge, schools can also get involved in the fundraising.

During the week beginning June 7, the foundation is looking for schools to compete in a star jump challenge during P.E lessons to help Jack reach his fundraising goal.

Each student is tasked with completing 25 star jumps and are asked to pay a voluntary contribution of £1.

Schools will be asked to collect the voluntary donations and add the total to Jack’s Virgin Money Giving Page.

All schools that sign up to support, will be sent a motivational video from Jack, and all schools that donate £50 and above will be entered into a draw for a free training session with Jack.
