First homes at huge new development in Northamptonshire village could be ready by summer 2022

A housebuilder has completed the purchase of land in a Northamptonshire village where planning permission for hundreds of new homes has been approved.

Hide AdOverstone Leys, located at the Moulton side of the village, will consist of 700 new homes, the first of which could be ready by summer 2022.
The site is part of a wider ‘sustainable urban extension’ including a total of 2,000 homes.
As part of the planning agreement with Daventry District Council and Northamptonshire County Council, a new section of the A43 dual carriageway has already been completed.

Hide AdHousebuilder, Taylor Wimpey, has now completed the purchase of land to begin work on the new homes.
Victor Idowu, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey south midlands, said: “We are delighted to have taken the next step in bringing new homes to this area of Northampton with the acquisition of the land at Overstone Leys.
“We are excited for work to start on site and anticipate the first homes to be ready for Summer 2022.”

Hide AdThe site will include one and two bedroom flats, as well as two to five bedroom houses.
As part of the wider site, a range of amenities are also planned for the area including a food store, a pub, a day nursery, a medical centre, a primary school, retail units and public open space to include sport pitches, play areas and allotments, as well more homes from other developers.
Plans have also recently been submitted for an Overstone Leys 66-bed care home, which will create between 50 and 60 jobs. The application is awaiting a decision.
