Amidst the countless events and celebrations cancelled by the coronavirus measures, the 75th anniversary of VE Day on May 8 stands out as a sad milestone to lose.
But without street parties and get-togethers, Northampton is still being encouraged to mark the anniversary and celebrate the historic day - safely, and at home.

He told the Chronicle & Echo: "It's such an important day to remember and it should be celebrated.
"It's a good opportunity to get your children at home involved and make red-white-and-blue bunting to hang up on the walls and in the windows.
"Go to your gardens or stay indoors and have afternoon tea on the day.

As part of the commemorations, the annual 'Nation's Toast to the Heroes of WWII' at 3pm on May 8 is expected to ripple through households across the UK.
The annual toast asks people across the country to stand at 3pm with a refreshment and toast the countless heroes of the second world war both at home and abroad.
Pageantmaster for VE Day 75 Bruno Peek told the Chron: "I would encourage the Chronicle's readers at 3pm to stand and raise a glass of refreshment of their choice to the heroes of WWII, paying tribute to the millions at home and abroad that gave so much to ensure we enjoy the future we share today.
