Discover the history of popular Northampton park...thanks to campaigners
The memories and history of a Northampton park have been dedicated to a new series of plaques for the public to discover.
Many visitors to Becket's Park might walk through without knowing any of its history - such how it used to play a major role in the Northampton to Bedford Railway, or the story of Beckets Well, or even some of the stories surrounding the River Nene.

Nick Stephens, chair of the Buddies of Beckets charity, said: "The boards are fantastic. They are set near the paths so park users can easily see them and they fit very well into the surroundings.
"The boards have generated a lot of interest albeit people are keeping their distance from each other.
"It is such a shame that we cannot hold a celebration in the park and invite all those people and partners who helped to see the boards but due to the present circumstances we obviously cannot."

Partners who helped fund and research the boards include: NCF for the funding, The University of Northampton, Wellingborough Museum, Northampton Library archives, Environment Agency, Northampton Sea Cadets, Mick Watts, past and present residents of Northampton for their photos and memories, and lead researches and designers Sue and Steve Jepson.
