The annual three-day party with dozens of hot air balloons, live music and a funfair was due to take place in early July.

But the Covid-19 lockdown has forced the organisers to move the festival to September 18-20 - depending on the Government rules at the time.

A post on the festival's Facebook page says: "Due to the ongoing issues with the coronavirus, we have taken the decision to move the Northampton Town Festival to September 18, 19 and 20, 2020.

"The new date is still dependent on the Government rules on social distancing and we will be working to all the guidelines set out by the Government regarding Covid-19.

"We will issue the new timings of the event programme in due course.
