Community hub among latest planning applications lodged across West Northamptonshire

A new community building for the major urban extension in Harpole is among the latest planning applications submitted to West Northamptonshire Council.

The reserved matters application seeks approval for the detailed design of the proposed community building and its surrounding external areas, including access, landscaping, car parking and servicing areas that will serve both the building and the wider local centre.

The proposal forms part of the long-running sustainable urban extension east of Sandy Lane, which was originally granted outline planning permission for up to 1,900 homes, a primary school, public open space, children's play areas, drainage features and a mixed-use local centre including shops, health services and community facilities.

Elsewhere in the latest list of planning applications, proposals have been submitted to demolish four single garages and replace them with two double garages at 49 East Park Parade in Northampton.

Listed building consent has also been sought for works at The Old Bull in Wappenham to reinstate an inglenook fireplace.

Another listed building application has been submitted for 2 The Old Grammar School in Guilsborough. The plans include removing an existing fire grate and hood before installing a multi-fuel burning stove, a new flue liner and associated fireplace works.

In Greens Norton, reserved matters have been submitted for the appearance, access, landscaping, layout and scale of a single new home on land east of 18 Blakesley Hill, following the granting of outline permission last year.

Other applications include replacement windows and doors at 2 The Croft in Northampton, retrospective permission for a new fence and hedgerow at 2 Home Farm Close in Creaton, a rear balcony extension and tree removal at 506 Wellingborough Road in Northampton, and the erection of a summer house at Meryl Cottage on Duston Road in Upper Harlestone.

The applications can be viewed on West Northamptonshire Council's planning portal. Members of the public have 21 days from the publication of the notice on July 9, 2026, excluding bank holidays, to submit comments.
