Zac Forskitt, of Abington Vale, was diagnosed with two forms of cancer, a cancerous tumour on his chest and a rare form of leukaemia.

The 20-year-old NSB student inspired the #BacZac campaign, which raised thousands of pounds and awareness of his condition before he passed away in March 2016.

Now, the charity uses his legacy to treat patients to shopping vouchers on three cancer units and hands out out small grants to families whose children are poorly.

Claire Green, who is shaving her head on Friday, July 31, said she feels as though she has not yet played her part in fundraising for Zac's campaign and this is her way of giving back.

"BacZacs charity is close to my heart," she said. "Zac was a gorgeous pageboy at my wedding in 2004 with beautiful sister Bethan as flower girl.

"I've known the family for about 20 years and I think shaving my hair off would be a shocking enough reason to donate."

Claire, whose fundraising target is £1,000, has already smashed her goal but she wants to raise as much cash as possible to help the charity send poorly children on respite breaks.

"I have elements of nerves because I've never shaved my head before but I'm more excited than anything," she added.

"My hair is really thick and long and I'm really excited about not having to wash, dry and straighten it every day."

Claire, who lives in Spring Boroughs, is hoping that her hair will make two wigs for the Little Princess Trust for children who have cancer.

Jason Forskitt, Zac's dad, said: "It's very brave of Claire to shave her hair off and it's always more difficult for a woman to get rid of their flowing hair.

"It has been a very difficult year for charities and our fundraising has been affected but brilliant people like Claire help us to still support young adults with cancer with our grants and vouchers."

The head shave is taking place at 7pm at the Thomas A Beckett pub on Friday, July 31, in St James, where donations can be taken on the night and online here.If you want to take part in fundraising, you can email [email protected].
