Chihuahuas, Chi-crosses, small toy breeds and any humans who love these pooches are welcome, but ‘no big dogs are allowed’, according to Chihuahua Town.

At this year’s event, there will be separate ‘glitzy’ beauty pageants for boys and girls, where the pooches should ‘dress to impress’.

The winners will receive a rosette and the runners-up will be awarded with prizes.

There will also be a fancy dress competition where the best fairytale or mythical creature costume will win.

For the more sporty dogs, there will be a few ‘silly’ races including the cheese race.

And if your four-legged friends are more interested in relaxing, there will be a splash pool, a shaded area, a photography studio and plenty of guests performances to enjoy.

The festival dedicated to the popular small dog breed will be held at Billing Aquadrome on June 6 between 11am and 5pm.

Tickets are pre-book only and cost £10 for adults and £4 for children. More information can be found on the Chihuahua Town website.
