Building supplier donates 13,800 protective masks to Northampton General Hospital

A building supplier has donated thousands of protective masks to Northampton General Hospital to help combat Covid-19.

Travis Perkins has donated 13,800 masks and 3,350 pairs of safety goggles to the NGH.

A spokeswoman for the building firm said: "In common with other local businesses we are pleased to be able to support our local community in some small way during the Covid pandemic by donating this PPE free of charge to Northampton General Hospital to help the front-line staff there, who are working so tirelessly through this challenging time. We are all so grateful to them.

"We are now operating a reduced branch network in line with the latest Government guidance, so we can ensure the safety and wellbeing of our people and still provide the essential materials and equipment needed to keep us all warm, dry, repaired and operational at this time of need, and like everyone else, our hopes are that as many as possible stay safe and well until we see the back of this emergency situation."

Northampton General Hospital is asking for anyone who wants to donate equipment or gifts for staff to contact them on [email protected].

A spokeswoman for the hospital said: "We are extremely grateful for the donations our community are sending in for our staff.

"We would kindly ask that if you are planning on donating anything to us, to get in contact beforehand.

"This way we can make sure all donations are dropped off in a safe way and distributed fairly amongst our teams."
