Boris Johnson's secret midnight visit to Kettering General Hospital
Patients were shocked to see Mr Johnson on the ward
The Prime Minister carried out a hush-hush visit to Kettering General Hospital overnight.
Boris Johnson dropped in on night-shift staff at the Rothwell Road hospital just after midnight. He was then pictured on the coronary care unit at 1am.
No media were invited along to the visit and Mr Johnson is said to have mingled with patients and staff. Hospital managers had known for some time that Mr Johnson was due to visit but the timing of his visit had been kept a secret from all but very senior managers.
Nobody from Kettering General Hospital was available for comment this morning.
The hospital is in line for a portion of £100m in funding to develop a business case to redevelop the whole site.
