The congregation of a Northampton mosque are volunteering to help the town's Bangladesh communities get essential supplies during the coronavirus measures.

Six British Bangladesh stores in Northampton town centre have offered a home delivery service with the help of volunteers from the Mosque Al Jamatul Muslimin of Bangladesh Masjid, based in St George's Street.

They’re encouraging everyone to take the government’s advice to stay at home where possible - and instead order over the phone before volunteers from the Mosque committee members on St. George’s Street.

Councillor Enam Haque told the Chronicle & Echo: "We can beat this, but everyone needs to stay at home and play their part in doing so.

"As we all know that we are going through some difficult time, it’s unprecedented no doubt.

"At a time of need we as a community need to stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow human being."
