Harry Dunn's alleged killer was was working for a US intelligence agency at the time of the fatal crash, a US court has been told.

Anne Sacoolas' barrister told a court hearing into the Dunn family's claims for damages that the American's work was "especially a factor" in her fleeing the UK and she feared she would "not get a fair trial".

Harry, 19, died when his motorbike collided with a car near RAF Croughton in 2019.

Mrs Sacoolas fled to the US the day after the smash claiming diplomatic immunity and attempts to have her extradited back to the UK to face death by dangerous driving charges have been blocked.

Claims emerged last year that Mrs Sacoolas worked for the CIA, although sources in the US insisted she was "not active."

Asked by the District Court judge why she had "fled" the UK, John McGavin insisted that he could not answer the question "completely candidly".

He said: he knew the answer but could not disclose it.

Northampton Town fan Harry, 19, died after a head-on crash between his motorcycle and Sacoolas' Volvo, which was on the wrong side of the road, near Croughton on August 27, 2019.

Mrs Sacoolas, 43, whose husband was based at RAF Croughton, claimed diplomatic immunity the next day using a loophole in the waiver agreement for US service personnel at RAF Croughton and left the UK for home a few weeks later.

However Harry’s family — dad Tim and mum Charlotte Charles — launched a Justice4Harry campaign claiming there had been a ‘cover up’ and have vowed to keep fighting to bring her back to Britain.

A Home Office extradition request was refused by Donald Trump's secretary of state Mike Pompeo in January 2020 and last week the new Joe Biden administration said the decision was final.

The case in the US has been adjourned until February 17.
