A young boy, his foster grandad and other family members have been making comedy sketch videos to help lift spirits during the coronavirus lockdown.

Four-year-old Shae is starring in his grandad’s videos that started out as comedy news bulletins last week with the aim to make people laugh but also spread an important message.

Andrew Berry said: “Stay in to protect the NHS - that is the message I want to get across.

“We’ve got to get this message out as people are just not obeying the rules and it’s really getting to me, but I wanted to do it in a fun way.

Andrew, who has three teenagers, is trying to get the whole family involved, as he enlisted his son James to edit the videos before they are posted online.

He added: “I had the idea a while back. Everybody is bored and we’re all in the same boat. The news is dreary and I have a house full of kids I need to occupy.”

With recent events and the Prime Minister’s current condition, Andrew made the decision to find other ways to keep people entertained and keep spreading the message rather than bulletins surrounding Boris Johnson.

In the latest video the Berry family, who are from Kings Heath, have recorded an episode of the quiz show Mastermind, where Shae’s specialist subject is ‘COVID-19 in Northampton’.

Andrew said: “We’re having great fun with it

“Everyone can’t wait. I’m getting messages saying when will the next one be and that they’re rolling around on the floor laughing.

“It just keeps people’s spirits high and more importantly it gets the message out there.

“I’m planning to do a few more and I might be able to do the bulletins again should Boris Johnson make a recovery.”

Andrew is keen to make more people aware that there is a local helpline for the COVID-19 response, that can be contacted on 0300 126 1000 (option 5).
