30mph zone proposed on road between Upper Harlestone and New Duston
West Northamptonshire Council has published proposals to extend the 30mph speed limit on Port Road between Upper Harlestone and New Duston, and is inviting residents to comment.
The proposed Order would extend the existing 30mph restriction from the current termination point — 145 metres north‑west of the centreline of the Whites Lane junction — a further 360 metres north‑west along Port Road. If approved the move will legally prohibit vehicles from exceeding 30 miles per hour on that additional stretch.
A copy of the draft Order, a map showing the precise length of road affected and the council’s reasons are available for inspection by appointment at Kier Highways’ depot, Old Harborough Road, Brixworth (phone 01604 529700). Because of essential system upgrades the documents are temporarily unavailable on the council website; copies can be requested by emailing [email protected].
Anyone wishing to object to or support the proposal must submit written representations, quoting reference P2150, to the Traffic Orders Section at Kier Highways, Highways Depot, Old Harborough Road, Brixworth NN6 9BX or by email to [email protected]. All responses must be received by March 26, 2026.

The notice is dated March 5, 2026 and signed by Sarah Hall, Corporate Director of Law and Governance. The council says the change is being considered under Sections 82–84 and Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to improve safety along the Port Road corridor.
