Pedestrian hospitalised after hit-and-run by Northampton supermarket

A pedestrian was left with serious injuries after being hit by a car outside a Northampton supermarket - though the driver of the vehicle failed to stop.

The collision took place on Victoria Promenade, between the Morrisons roundabout and the junction with Bedford Road, Cheyne Walk and Derngate.

However the vehicle involved in the collision, which took place at about 4.20am on Saturday morning, left the scene without stopping.

Officers would like to speak to any witnesses, in particular the driver of a dark coloured VW Passat who may have witnessed the hit-and-run.

The pedestrian was taken to Northampton General Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
