Panto comes to Northampton this spring... oh yes it does

Christmas may be a long way off, but a Northampton theatre is planning a springtime pantomime.

The Deco Theatre is putting on Cinderella for three days over the May Whitsun Bank Holiday.

And open auditions for dancers who would like to perform in the show take place in April.

The panto, which will run from May 28 to 30, will also include appearances from two Shetland ponies.

Jill Roach, of the Northampton-based Stage Right Productions that host all shows and performances at The Deco, said: “It was one of those ‘come on, let’s do it’ moments, and so we’re doing it. But the response has been fantastic in the few days since we officially announced it, and we’re all really excited.

“It’s actually about halfway between our Christmas Pantos – this year we’re doing ‘Snow White’ by the way - but we get so much great response from our audiences, we thought we’d give them a treat.

“We’re still finalising the cast, but we’ve got some top class and well known performers lined up, and of course we’re scripting in guest appearances for two beautiful Shetland ponies which my family own.

“We’ve had our dogs perform in a few of our Christmas Pantos, and we don’t want our ponies to miss out on an opportunity for stardom; I know they’ll love the limelight, and be really popular with our audiences.”

Tickets are now on sale and, just like tickets for The Deco’s ‘Snow White’ Panto in December, any bought before March 31 will cost just £10 for any seat in the house. Registered carers and children under two are admitted free of charge.

Jill said: “Just like our Christmas Pantos, and any show we put on at The Deco, our aspiration is to provide affordable theatre for all, and we believe this is great value for top class entertainment.

“We just want families to come to our theatre and have a great time, and it’s not just tickets that are affordable, our food and beverage are too.”
