'Wider public has not been considered over e-scooter scheme in Northampton'

It's really nice to know that whoever had the bright idea of bringing in these e scooters did not for one minute consider the wider public.

These scooters, if rented from the proper sources, can only be used on the road. Maybe those will be used in the proper way. However, if you own one they can only be ridden on private land.

Twice this week I have had to dart out of the way of maniacs who think it’s OK to speed along pedestrianised areas with no respect or thought for anyone else.

Abington street was one area and Johnson Court the other. It’s been bad enough that we have had to contend with pushbikes riding through the town centre and now we are expected to have to put up with these. Where are the police to enforce these laws; nowhere as usual.

It will only be a matter of time before someone gets run down and seriously injured.
