'Why is local football banned when hundreds still flock to our country parks?'

Local football was suspended from November 7 and is a blow to clubs who have stringently applied Covid control measures and citing as an example Cogenhoe United FC, paying spectators were subjected to temperature checks, full test and tracing recording, social distancing and one way pedestrian movement.

On Saturday morning Sywell Country Park pay and display was filled to overflowing to the extent that some cars were being left outside on the road. Crowds of people were flowing along the footpaths, the café was open but there was no sign of precautionary measures, apart from token social distancing notices which have been in evidence since the first lockdown. No police were in evidence, or did they consider it did not constitute an illegal gathering?

Surely as a county council owned and controlled site this is irresponsibility in the extreme and perhaps a representative could supply an explanation.
