'Wellingborough Road in Northampton should be made one-way as part of new traffic system'

Northamptonshire County Council missed a serious trick with the one-way proposal for Billing Road. They have gone go further and make Wellingborough Road one way the other way.

Then all link roads should be one way alternately. This is a popular arrangement in many foreign countries and offers efficient vehicle flow and space for cyclists and pedestrians.

There will be moans to begin with but as residents find their streets quieter and safer, drivers find town centre access more relaxing and cyclists and pedestrians feel safer, it becomes a win-win for everyone.

Northamptonshire County Council should show some imagination and leadership and go for it!
