Support is needed more than ever

Your picture (November 5) of Jeanette Walsh attending a tea party within the grounds of Buckingham Palace; together with her sad tale dating back to her early years, was one of the most moving I’ve seen in the Chron all year.

And her traumatic recollections made me embarrassed to be British – briefly.

I am thrilled that a Special Achievement Award was bestowed on Jeanette by Northamptonshire County Council last year.

It is so well deserved, as she and her counterparts, who work tirelessly to make the Northamptonshire Children’s Annual Gift Appeal a success, are secular versions of all that is good and kind.

Our support is needed more than ever this Christmas.
