'I feel ashamed to say I live in Northampton with so many people flouting face mask rules'

I saw your article about the large group of people gathered in Wellingborough Road. There are a number of people in Northampton who think the law does not apply to them. The wearing of masks seems to be something that many people think is something they’re exempt from doing. Our local corner shop is full, of people without masks.

I would not expect small shop owners to try to enforce this law themselves as they would be at risk of bodily harm if they did. The large supermarkets can have security staff at the entrance to ensure people are wearing masks. It’s a pity the police are so under- resourced that they are unable to enforce this mask rule. Is it any wonder that incidents of COVID 19 is rising in this area. I feel ashamed to say, I live in Northampton.
