I would like to say that exercise is a need not necessarily a want and is needed to maintain good health and mind.

After working eight hours each day at a laptop at home under trying circumstances with regard to comfort, slow IT and poor phone signals, I have been taking a brisk 20 minute walk each day followed by 20 minutes reading before starting dinner and chores. This gets the blood circulating again, helps stiffened muscles and relaxes my mind.

I live on an eastern district estate where there is enough room to give others a wide berth which is usually received with a nice smile and a thank you.

As I live alone this is important for my own mental wellbeing.

Not everybody has a garden, or indeed one that is big enough to walk in and not everybody can do any exercise other than walking.

I do think there are some things to be remembered when going out and they are to start the walk from home and not to drive to a park, to walk as briskly as you are able and not to sit and take a break and to maintain at least two metre gaps at all times.

Everybody, including me, wants to get back to normal as soon as possible so we do need to do what we are asked which currently includes exercise a short distance from home but let’s not abuse it and use it as a chance to gather and ruin it for everybody.
