However, organisers have now cancelled this year’s festival entirely and instead, revealed two events for 2021 with the first in March.

Making the announcement on the event’s Facebook page, organisers said: “After much deliberation and a lot of effort to re-imagine how it could be done in the circumstances, we must tell you that NMF2020 will now take place on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

“The festival will be held in Market Square and there will also be a changeover stage - a two stage event, just like the old days.

“This will make for a smaller, more intimate affair with a truly atmospheric main stage.

“We’re sure you’ll love every moment.“

The regular music festival will then follow as normal on the third Sunday of June with its usual multi stage line up.

The Northampton Music Festival brings thousands of music lovers into the town centre each year.

In recent years, there have been outdoor and indoor stages across the town with hundreds of musicians from across the county taking part.
