Northampton's Kittie 100 years young
A Northamptonian born and bred has celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by her loved ones.
Kittie Hickman was treated to a party at Templemore Residential Care Home where she has been a resident for two years.
Kittie grew up in Clare Street and attended Notre Dame Girls School in Abington Street.
Her father, who was one of the first car owners in Northampton, ran the newsagent’s in Clare Street and Kittie used to deliver newspapers to the local houses.
After school, Kittie worked for the Inland Revenue for many years, firstly when the office was in Abington Street before moving to its present location on Sheep Street.
Kittie was resident in the town’s Edgehill Road for most of her married life before moving at the age of 98.
