Northampton comic superstar Alan Carr has announced he is to marry his long-term boyfriend - and make popstar Adelle his 'bridesmaid' in an interview with The Sun.

The bespectacled Chatty Man, who regularly visits family in his hometown, told the paper’s showbiz editor Dan Wootton that he and beau Paul Drayton had become engaged on holiday last week.

Actor Mr Drayton made the shock proposal in a hotel in Lombok, Indonesia, by placing a ring in Mr Carr’s dessert and prompting the lobby’s organ player to launch into a rendition of an Elton John number.

The Chatty Man, told the Sun: “I pull it out and it’s this ring and then the man on the organ starts singing Can you Feel the Love Tonight?

“Then the chef and all the staff came out, and the manager, and sang Can You Feel the Love Tonight, but they didn’t know the next lyric, so they just sang, ‘Can you feel the love tonight? Can you feel the love tonight?’

“So it was my idea of hell, but of course I said, ‘yes’.”

As for the wedding, Mr Carr joked he would get his celebrity pal Adele to be a bridesmaid and even perform Someone Like You.

The Channel 4 star is soon set to release a tell-all biography, Alanatomy, which The Sun claims “contains a number of bombshell revelations”.
