Northampton Town players to receive ceremonial scroll at civic reception

A ceremonial scroll will be presented to Northampton Town at the victory parade this afternoon by the chairman of Northamptonshire County Council.

The scroll will be presented by Councillor Phil Larratt as part of a civic reception at Northampton’s Guildhall on Sunday, May 8.

Councillor Larratt said: “Northampton Town FC have had a tremendous season, which firstly saw them promoted to League One and then crowned league champions.

“This is a marvellous achievement and I’m very proud of everyone involved with the club and delighted for the fans, for whom this means so much.

“Such an exceptional performance has brought prestige to Northampton, creating a positive focus on the county town of Northamptonshire.

“I’m also delighted that Towcester Mill Brewery has agreed to assist in sponsoring the civic reception. This is a fantastic independent small brewery based in the Old Mill in the centre of Towcester within the county, producing excellent beers.”

Additionally, footway restrictions on Black Lion Hill put in place for highways works are due to be temporarily lifted so football fans for the parade can have access.
