A planning application to add up to three storeys to a row of shops in Abington Street and build 52 new flats has been submitted to Northampton Borough Council.

It would build on top of 71 to 77b Abington Street, which is a row of shops from the TSB Bank to the DAPP UK charity shop in the town centre.

Developers plan to create 3,750 square-feet on new flooring above the stores and add car parking, a bin area and bicycle storage.

A consultation on the build is open until December 14.
