Firefighters were called out to the Princess Alexandra pub in Alexandra Road last Friday after smoke was seen billowing out of the building. However, the fire was quickly extinguished and the pub was back in business later on the same day.

General manager Craig Johnson, said: “Although it wasn’t a serious incident the fire service were called and provided an outstanding service, ensuring that we were back to business within a few hours, we can’t thank them enough.”

Mr Johnson said: “We are very lucky that it was so minor and business was so quickly resumed, everyone has been great and really concerned, so we just want to reassure all that the Princess Alexandra is fully open and we are looking forward to both a busy weekend and to our annual Oktoberfest at the end of October.”
